Spring is a perfect time to make a plan with fun spring activities that embrace the warmer weather and are a great way to enjoy the spring season.
Whether you’re gearing up for spring break, trying to enjoy some fresh air after a long winter, or just want to have a fun time this season, I hope you enjoy these fun spring bucket list ideas.
You can use this post as inspiration to create your own spring bucket list ideas, or you can check out the printable bucket list on my Etsy shop which is already created for you – just print and go!
1. Make a bird feeder
I put this as number one because I had so much fun making these bird feeders with my kids. This is definitely an activity to add to your spring bucket list ideas! Using a pinecone, peanut butter, and bird seeds, we created a bird feeder that our birds adored! Here’s an Instagram post where I showed how we did it!
2. Plant for Earth Day
Earth Day is everyday over here! Whether we’re talking about eco friendly living, testing out new eco friendly products, or doing environmental science lessons with students, we love to find ways to live with the environment in mind. Earth Day happens on April 22 of each year. To celebrate, try planting some trees for Earth Day! If you don’t have space to plant trees, you can plant shrubs or, like my next suggestion a garden.
3. Start an edible garden
An edible garden is a garden full of plants that bear fruit, vegetables, and herbs. Every spring we plan an edible garden and not only do we have a great time, but our kids do too! I love edible gardens because you can either buy seeds from the store or you can use old parts of fruit and vegetables to plant new plants! If you don’t have the space outdoors or you’re afraid you can’t maintain healthy plants, try starting with container gardening inside or grow herbs in your window! Herbs are so easy to grow.
I have an Instagram video here about growing plants and reusing egg cartons!
If you’re still not sure where to start with gardening, check out my full garden planner here.
4. Attend a spring festival
Festival season is here! I love a good festival. From the foo to the music, festivals are the best ways to enjoy the springtime and make the most of your spring bucket list of activities. Look up festivals in your city first to see what is offered. Often your city will host free events that are family friendly. It’s also a perfect opporutnity to see other places that may offer spring festivals, especially during spring break time!
5. Hike a new trail
This is something I add to my spring bucket list ideas each year! I’m a spring birthday girl so on my birthday I find a different trail to hike. It’s a tradition that my whole family knows now and expects. We make a whole day out of it and have such a great time. Hiking is one of the best spring activities because you get to spend time outside in nature and get exercise. It is a great activity to do both solo and with a group of people.
6. Visit a farmers market
Every season is the perfect season for fresh produce at the Farmer’s Market, right?! I’ve read andy of my other bucket list blog posts you’ve probably seen me put farmers market as a bucket list ideas because it’s that good! Farmer’s markets are a great way to grab your spring veggies, try new things, and support local. Farmer’s help to keep our food agriculture going! Being able to support smaller farmer’s is crucial to the local economy and is a great place to find alternative food than the grocery store. To make this an even more fun activity for your spring bucket list ideas, try a new farmer’s market each month. Depending on where you live, you may be able to try a new one each week!
7. Play outside on a rainy day
April showers bring May flowers, they say! This spring, embrace the rainy weather and play outside. I got my kids’ rain boots and rain jackets and allowed them to have a great time splashing in puddles and enjoying themselves in their own backyard. Even though we all love sunny days, there is something about those rainy days as the first signs of spring.
If playing outside in the rain isn’t your idea of a fun activity, try watching the rain under a porch or in the garage. This is a great idea to get out of your comfort zone and enjoy the spring weather while still staying nice and dry!
8. Read a good book outside
Cozy up with a good book. Grab your book or your Kindle and let’s get to reading! Whether you’re enjoying a quiet spring day inside with the blinds and windows open or sitting on the back porch with a glass of something yummy, bring your book! Kick off the new season of the year with a new book that hooks you in and takes you away. Simple things like this for enjoyment are what make spring the best time.
9. Play an outdoor scavenger hunt with your kids
I have a few very inexpensive outdoor scavenger hunts your kids will love! Take them on a nice neighborhood walk and use the scavenger hunt!
10. Paint rocks
You have to check out this full blog post I have on painting rocks, but rock painting is the best! It’s so much fun regardless of your age is gives you so much freedom to have a good time in creative ways. We love to take our rocks to local park and hide them around the park so when people find them they find positive or environmental messages. You’ll love to add this spring craft to your spring bucket list ideas.
11. Go strawberry picking
Have you ever been strawberry picking? Let me first say it is a lot of work! However, strawberry picking is delicious! At my previous job every year we would have a sign up sheet where people would bring a different dish made of strawberries each day of the week. It was a way for all of us to use up the strawberries we’d picked and try new recipes. This year I also got a new plant for my birthday and the strawberries grew beautifully! My kids loved checking to see if they were ripe and picking them each day.
12. Make homemade pizza
Pizza is such a comfort food. I don’t think there is any season where pizza is inappropriate, but to make it fun let’s add homemade pizza to our spring break bucket list ideas! It’s a perfect excuse to eat this doughy goodness. My family and I usually use the Calipower Pizza Crust and add the topping to that, but once a year in the spring we make homemade pizza crust. We allow the dough to rise and roll it out before adding topping. It’s so much fun!
13. Do an outdoor workout
From pilates to jogging, there is no better time for outdoor workouts than the spring. The weather is warm, but not too hot which means you can work up a sweat without being miserable! If you don’t have a gym you like to attend, feel free to do a YouTube workout or workout program in your own backyard. I’m still enjoying my workouts by Pilates By Raven, but for more intense and toning workouts I love following Sarah’s Day ebooks.
14. Don’t feed the geese
Yes, you read that right. DON’T feed the geese. Geese do not need us to feed them. I know this may be a new concept for most because I too grew up feeding to geese until I worked for the city in the stormwater division and learned that feeding geese is bad for the environment.
Here are a few reasons why you should not feed these geese:
- It creates unnatural food competition
- It contributes to water pollution because of increased poop/droppings
- Leftover food from feedings is left in the environment
- Bread doesn’t provide proper nutrition
- Geese can forget their natural food-finding instincts and begin to solely rely on human feeding
- The birds stop migrating
- Creates habits of begging for food and geese plunging through garbage for food
15. Plan out your summer vacation
Now is the time to start thinking ahead for your summer travel. Think of these questions when planning your summer
- Where will you go
- What will you read
- What will you create
- What will you enjoy
- What will you explore
- Who/What will you visit
16. Spring clean
Is it just me or is there something about spring that makes you want to be lighter and more carefree? However, I challenge you to take a new approach this spring. We’re going beyond the traditional cleaning. Instead, let’s deep clean not only our home but our life! Dedicate some time to decluttering and cleaning out things in your life to start the season fresh.
Here are some ideas for spring cluttering/decluttering:
- Deep clean your home
- Clean out your email inbox
- Clean out your photo gallery in your phone
- Clean up/organize your Apple Music or Spotify Playlists
- Clean out your car
- Clean the windows
- Dust the light fixtures, wall art, and ceiling fans
- Clean the baseboards
- Clear old contacts on your phone
- Unsubscribe from emails and subscriptions that no longer serve you
- Clean out your purse/wallet
- Clean out the medicine cabinet
- Wash kids’ book bags and lunch boxes
- Clean out your closet
- Clean out the fridge and freezer
- Evaluate your relationships
- Unfollow/mute anyone who does not positively serve you on social media
17. Have an outdoor picnic
Nothing screams spring to me like an outdoor picnic. Eating outside is an amazing way to enjoy the spring weather and spend some time in nature. Back up your favorite snacks and drinks and enjoy a day in the park. I love this picnic backpack for times like this! It’s perfect! Easy to carry and has all the essentials you’ll need.
18. Try a new recipe
I’ll default to Pinterest on this one because it is filled with amazing new recipes to try for the spring! When I’m thinking of spring recipes I think of light, healthy, fresh dishes made with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Try something different this season and have fun eating it!
19. Go to a yard sale
I love a good yard sale. I’ll even pull over my car to stop at a garage sale or estate sale if I see one! Yard sales are not only a great way to reuse items instead of sending them to a landfill, it is also a perfect opporutnity to take those items from your spring cleanout and give them a new life! Embrace the season by reducing, reusing, and recycling with yard sales this spring!
20. Dye Easter Eggs
I have a full blog post on activities to try this easter that are better for the planet! Naturally dying eggs is on that list! In that post, I detail how to make Easter eggs without using toxic dye. Instead, you can use natural ingredients to dye the eggs. Getting creative and using natural dye for Easter eggs is an even better way to spend quality time with your family and kids this spring!
21. Have ice cream sundaes
No spring bucket list ideas are complete without ice cream sundaes! When springtime hits the lines at traditional ice cream shops fill up fast. To avoid the crowds and save some single use plastic waste, I love to make ice cream sundaes at home. Here are a few delicious sundae recipes to try at home:

22. Have a water balloon fight (with reusable water balloons)
These reusable balloons have been all the rage for good reason! So long to balloon litter and individually fill up balloons. Instead, add these reusable water balloons to your list of fun things to do on your spring bucket list. Kids have a great time with these balloons because they can refill themselves! As a busy mom, I love these balloons because there’s no cleanup!
23. Wear floral prints
Nothing says “Happy spring!” like wearing floral prints and brighter colors. From spring nails to spring outfit ideas, let’s get excited about dressing for the season! One of my favorite ways to incorporate floral prints during the spring is to go to the thrift store and thrift dresses! For whatever reason, I have the BEST luck with thrifting dresses in the springtime. Perhaps it is because people don’t wear dresses often, but I always find high-quality dresses, perfect for special events that start occurring as the weather changes.
If spring dresses or thrifting aren’t really your thing (although thrifting can be everyone’s thing with just a little patience and creativity!), check out the sustainable fashion brand Poplinen. I’ve been wearing Poplinen for years now! They’re a women-owned business that focuses on ethical labor, quality clothing, and sustainably sourced fabrics and materials. My favorite item from their spring collection this year is the Rita Linen Shirt. It is breathable, lightweight, and easy to layer for the sporadic spring weather!

24. Make a list to prepare for other seasons
Spring is the time of year that makes you feel motivated and inspired. If you’ve fallen off your list of New Year’s goals and resolutions, it is also the time to reflect on your goals and either make new lists moving forward or consider how to still accomplish your goals. Here are some ideas for lists to make this spring
- Gift lists for Christmas
- Shopping wish list
- Inventory lists
- Birthday list
- Favorite meals list
- Books to be read list
- Movies to be watched list
- Podcasts to listen to
- Places to travel
- Goals list
- Spring cleaning list
25. Attend a local baseball game
My family loves baseball and in the spring and the fall we know we will be in the thick of it with baseball practices and games. We also love to attend our local baseball league to watch the professionals play! There is nothing like sitting in a baseball stadium enjoying the warm weather and watching a good baseball game! It’s one of my favorite fun activities to do in the spring!
26. Find a nearby park to blow bubbles
Here is an idea for more sustainable bubbles! If you’re looking to purchase sustainable bubbles in-store, be sure to read the packaging well. I purchased what I THOUGHT was sustainable bubbles and everything game in single-use plastic! Here are the sustainable bubbles I would recommend to add to your list of spring bucket list ideas for a fun day in the park!
27. Bring fresh flowers into your home or space
Fresh flowers have been known to elevate a space and bring joy! You can grab fresh and local flowers from the farmer’s market or you can pick them yourself. Flower picking is one of those great outdoor activities for spring! What’s more, flower arranging is a great hobby to try!
