On the other hand, the fact that Johnson family now produces only a small jar of waste per year can be a bit inimidating! It is important to keep in mind that everyone has to take the necessary steps they need to live a more sustainable life. Although you may not be able to reduce your waste enough to fit into a jar, this book will help insidpire you to change how you approach your life!

Watching The Minimalist on Netflix changed my life! I don’t say that in a dramatic way, I say that because that show made a big difference in my sustainable lifestyle and my simple steps towards a sustainable wardrobe.
For that reason, I had to read the Minimalist Home by Joshua Becker. This book truly shows you hot to create a better home to live a truly good life.
“The Minimalist Home” is one of the sustainable living books that goes into detail about deculutter in a way that will help you be able to focus on what matters in life. This book is the pefect marriage of minimalism and sustainability with a practical guide for next steps.

This is one of my favorite sustainable living books. This book made me feel so impowered and like I could truly conquer sustainale living. What I loved the most about this book is Jen Gale’s ability to embrace imperfection in sustainabel living!

5. Outdoor Kids in an Inside World by Steven Rinella
Getting kids outside these days feels like convincing a cat to take a bath! But if there is one book that can make you feel like it’s possible, it’s ‘Outdoor Kids In an Inside World’. This book is just what you need if you’re looking to swap screen time for green time!
The book includes practical tools about getting outside that doen’t make you feel like you need to live without grid power (although Steven Rinella would definately hype you up if you decided to!).
I liked that the book has relatbale stories and reminds us that nature is not only accessible, but also essential for our kids.
Keep in mind some part of the book may be a bit intense if you’re not into the outdoors! I’m not into camping, but I still found this book was helpful, relatable and funny.
6. 101 Ways to Go Zero Waste by Kathryn Kellogg
This was one of the first zero-waste books I’ve ever read. ‘101 Ways To Go Zero Waste’ is just that! 101 ways that you can learn how to reduce your waste and help adjust problems associated with our climate crisis in a way that is not overwhelming or over the top.
Kathryn Kellogg breaks ups these ways into bite-size pieces to make them easy to understand. This accessible approach had be wanting to make immediate change!
This book is all about the philospohy of progress over perfection and that small wins add up to make a big impact. From bringing your own coffee cups to composting at home, this book will have your to-do list filled with next steps to make a sustainable difference.

Ashlee Piper is that no-nonsense friend who’s been throught it all and is here to tell you exactly what you need to know about doing the right thing for our planet. I love that this book is written with so much sass and personality! It makes reading it fun and attractive.
Using wit and honest advice, Ashlee makes sustainability feel empoweirng and even a little glamorous!
She divides the book into sections that covers everything from cleaning up your beauty products to tackling our food system. While you may not be ready to start a plant-based diet right way, you can still integrate sustainability into your life without losing your sanity.
