Here are the perfect Earth Day resources to celebrate Earth Day! As you can imagine, Earth Day is one of my favorite holidays. I’ve compiled a bunch of resources to help your classroom or homeschool have fun learning about our planet! Here’s a little bit more about each of the resources and how you can use them in your classroom.
This blog post is all about Earth Day resources 2023 to help your classroom or homeschool.
1.) Outdoor Scavenger Hunt
Get outside and enjoy nature! Spending time in nature is one of the best ways to develop a love for nature and a passion to protect it. When thinking about teaching your students about the Earth, be sure to make time to be outdoors.
I’ve added this outdoor scavenger hunt to my Earth Day resources 2023 because it is a perfect way to easily encourage your students to get outside. This resource is recommended for elementary students, especially ages 3-5.
Here’s how to incorporate Earth Day learning with this Outdoor Scavenger Hunt:
- Are the items you’ve identified biotic or abiotic (living or non-living)
- What makes these items living? What makes these items non-living?
- What benefits do these living things have on the environment?
- Is there a way to protect these living things?
I play this game with my son, who is 3. My daughter joins in and we have the best time. I’ve included a link to the scavenger hunt on my Etsy shop! It includes an indoor scavenger hunt just in case you need some rainy-day fun.
Earth Day Picture Bingo Cards
B-I-N-G-O! It doesn’t matter what age you are, bingo is always fun! ALWAYS! We play bingo at just about every family party and most holiday parties too. Earth Day bingo is a great way to bring some fun and learning to the holiday. This Earth Day Bingo was made specifically to include younger kids. My son is 3 and my daughter is 2 so I wanted something that they could also participate in. If you’re looking for some Earth Day resources 2023 that can be used with pre-k and above, this is definitely it!
Here’s how to incorporate Earth Day learning with these Earth Day Bingo Cards:
- Have a fun fact for each of the calling cards. Instead of just calling out the picture, read the fact about the picture.
- Write the name of the calling card on the board or screen. Have the student read the name on the board and mark the corresponding picture.
- Have the students play in small groups.
Earth Day Fact or Fiction
This Fact or Fiction Earth Day Resources 2023 is already becoming one of the most popular digital resources in my Etsy shop! This is so exciting because I had so much fun making this! This Earth Day trivia page is great for older kids and adults. You can use this resource in your homeschool, classroom, or even as a fun game at work.
Here’s how to incorporate Earth Day learning with this Earth Day Trivia Page:
- Have the students pick one item from the trivia page and research it. They can create a small research paper or paragraph to explain more about the topic they chose. This can also be used as a public speaking exercise to share their findings with the class.
- Make it a competition. Break the students up into teams and see who can get the most correct.
- Use these questions for bell ringers, entry tickets, and exit tickets.
- Use the answer key to explore what would make the false statements fact.
The Lorax Discussion Questions
One of my favorite books of all time! This book is a classic in the environmental space. If you’ve never read the Lorax, you can grab a copy here!

Here are some major themes in the Lorax book:
- Environmental stewardship
- Conservation
- Responsibility
- Understanding how humans impact the environment
- Impacts of pollution on the environment
- Deforestation
- Overconsumption
- Economic growth and environmentalism
I created these discussion questions to help further the lessons taught in this book. The questions were aimed at students in middle school and above, but can also be used for elementary students.
Find Someone Who Earth Day Bingo
Time to get up and get moving! These are one of the Earth Day resources 2023 designed to get people up and moving and chatting! This activity is based on the game “find someone who”. Each person playing should have one sheet. When the game begins have everyone walk around and start chatting with others to find someone who has done each of the things on the game sheet.
There are two ways to determine a “winner” in this game: the first person to get 5 in a row or the first person to get their entire sheet filled. This game is fun whether you have a group of people who know each other or a group of people who are just meeting each other for the first time. By the end of this fun Earth Day icebreaker game, everyone feels more comfortable and relaxed!
The learning portion of this game comes from the people you’re interacting with. As an extension to this game, take some time out to ask people what they learned or if someone’s answer surprised them. You can also ask about the environmental benefits of each of the descriptions in the game.
Earth Day Scattegories
If you’ve ever played scattegories you already know that it is the type of competitive fun that can make your brain heart and your heart race! I’ve been known to make up some random scattergories cards with a piece of paper and pen to bring the fun to events that may have lost their spark.
Make learning fun with these Earth Day scattergories cards! There are 3 unique cards in this bundle and each of the cards has 9 different categories. Instead of choosing random letters, use the letters in the words to find items in each category. Remember to keep your words unique to make sure you don’t cancel our potential points!
Here’s how to incorporate Earth Day learning with this Earth Day Scattergories Game:
- Define the words mean in each of the scattegories cards: “reuse”, “earth”, “green”
- Have the students compare the words they wrote on their cards.
- Use the words to write a story! Bonus points if you can use the word from the scattergories card.
Everyone can celebrate Earth Day, regardless of age! Every year I work to create activities that are fun and interactive for students and adults. Whether you’re in the classroom, homeschooled, or just an adult looking to have some fun this Earth Day, these Earth Day resources 2023 can be for you!
